Recovery Advocate Specialist
Overdose Lifeline (ODL) is currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join the Overdose Lifeline Team as a Recovery Advocate Specialist for the Heart Rock Justus Family Recovery Center.
Overdose Lifeline (ODL) is an Indianapolis-based nonprofit serving the State of Indiana with programs used across the nation. ODL addresses the chronic disease of substance use disorder and the opioid public health crisis.
This person is responsible to the Director of Heart Rock Justus Family Recovery Center.
Position Summary
A Recovery Advocate Specialist (RAS) serves as the point of contact for residents entering our recovery house, ensures residents are following their daily programming and sees the immediate needs of residents. The RAS will manage incoming calls to Heart Rock, communicate with the Director about potential incoming residents, and manage information given to callers. The RAS will facilitate a safe, structured, and supportive environment conducive to facilitating lifelong changes with the women and children we serve. The RAS will encourage both the vision and mission of ODL and Heart Rock.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Ensure residents are following daily programming
- Ensure residents are abiding by the Recovery House rules and regulations
- Providing information and supportive services for staff, residents, and visitors
- Performing other administrative duties as requested by the Operations Director or Leadership team
- Maintaining complete, accurate and timely information on callers, visitors and residents and completing subsequent data entry
- Monitoring security systems, respond to alarms appropriately and apprise management of any security issues
- Perform security checks within the house to increase safety of residents and staff
- Provide residents with information and support as appropriate
- Foster an environment supportive of recovery while providing respects and dignity to residents, staff, visitors, and callers
- Representing the Recovery House during interactions with other agencies and the community at large
- Work with other agency staff on projects or initiatives as directed by the Operations Director
Ensure the house is fully stocked with essential and necessary grocery items - Able to work shifts that include holidays

- Commitment to supporting recovery

Family Reunification Advocate/Child Services Specialist
Overdose Lifeline (ODL) is currently seeking a passionate individual to join Overdose Lifeline as Family Reunification Advocate/Child Services Specialist.
ODL is an Indianapolis-based nonprofit serving the State of Indiana with programs used across the nation. ODL addresses the chronic disease of substance use disorder and the opioid public health crisis.
Heart Rock Recovery Center (HRRC), a recovery residence operated by Overdose Lifeline, opened in November 2022 to fill the central Indiana gap of serving pregnant and parenting people in SUD/addiction recovery. HRRC is unique in that it allows for mothers to stay with their young children under the age of two in the recovery residence, preserving family unity and mitigating the childhood impacts of separation from mother during the recovery process.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must have a high school diploma, and or bachelor’s degree in the field of social work, or another related field of study; be over 21 years of age
- Prior professional experience or knowledge of mental health/substance use disorders strongly preferred.
- Experience with health communication, training, or promotion is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Lived experience with substance use recovery required.
- Doula certification or experience a plus.
- Must be able to pass the Department of Child Services Background Check.
- Must be able to pass criminal background check.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

PERSONAL SKILLS:
The ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others, which includes promoting a positive work environment conducive to effective communication among staff members. The ability to communicate health information in a culturally sensitive manner is important. A strong passion for health promotion work and reducing shame and stigma around substance use disorder.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Family Advocate– Child Services Specialist serves both as a Family Reunification Advocate and has specific tasks related to Child Services/Advocacy in the residence (see below).
Responsibilities for Family Reunification Advocate:
- Maintain professionalism in appearance, verbal communication, and written documents
- Conduct Supervised Visitation per court orders and DCS guidelines
- Transport clients to and from visitation
- Maintain accurate paperwork (contact logs, visit notes, monthly reports, etc.)
- Be detail oriented and meet timelines
- Attend court hearings, Child and Family Team Meetings, Provider Meetings, and home visits along with Director as needed or submit your reports monthly to Director
- Create positive relationships with others
- Monitor and observe parental role and parent’s response to the child’s need, non-verbal and verbal signs
- Document the quality of the visit and provide recommendations
Responsibilities for Parenting Educator:
- Maintain professionalism in appearance, verbal communication, and written documents
- Complete parenting assessment and determine course of treatment
- Lead weekly MOMs (Nurturing Parents) sessions for all house residents.
- Meet at least monthly with each mother to discuss any ongoing parenting concerns and create plans to address these concerns, particularly as they relate to child development and mother recovery process.
- Coordinate with Occupational Therapist(s) in the residence to provide appropriate developmental care for children.
- Provide guidance as needed for residents’ older children. Assist with planning for children to move into the residence upon reunification or birth.
- Attend birth with the resident upon resident’s request
Recovery Advocate Specialist:

The Child Services Specialist will oversee caregiving and advocate for the children during their stay at Heart Rock Recovery Center so that the women can balance motherhood with their recovery activities to build a solid foundation for sustained recovery. The ideal candidate for the Child Services Specialist will have a background in caregiving, child safety (First Aid, CPR, Safe Sleep Techniques).

Events and Development Manager

Overdose Lifeline, Inc. (ODL) is a statewide nonprofit organization that has been addressing the opioid public health crisis since 2014. Our mission is to provide support and education to individuals, families, and communities impacted by addiction. ODL is currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as the Director of Events and Development.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in event planning and the ability to build effective community collaborations and relationships with key stakeholders. This position is responsible for coordinating special events, fundraising efforts, social media marketing, promotion, and other development activities for ODL.
The candidate can be in the early stages of their career or have experience as an established professional. This role requires collaborating with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and demands strong communication skills, organizational abilities, attention to detail, good judgment, and the capacity to handle confidential information.
An interest in substance use disorders and a commitment to reducing the harms associated with substance use are highly desirable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fundraising and Relationship Management
- Collaborate with the CEO to implement fundraising initiatives, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and special events.
- Identify and develop relationships with corporate partners, foundations, community leaders, and major donors.
- Create, solicit, and manage sponsorship packages for corporate partners, ensuring successful execution of agreements.
- Work with the CEO and Marketing Team to design impactful sponsorship campaigns aligned with the annual marketing strategy.
- Maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and stakeholders, ensuring they are engaged and well-informed.
- Ensure timely and personalized acknowledgment of donations, sponsorships, and in-kind contributions.
Event Planning and Management
- Organize and manage signature fundraising events, including annual fundraisers and community engagement initiatives.
- Develop sponsorship opportunities, solicit donations for silent auctions and raffles, and recruit and train event volunteers.
- Oversee event budgets, timelines, and logistics to ensure smooth execution.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Team to create promotional materials for events, including digital and print collateral.
- Manage post-event follow-up and donor appreciation activities.
Donor Engagement and Stewardship
- Build and maintain relationships with current and potential donors through consistent communication, events, and personalized outreach.
- Collaborate with the CEO and Marketing Team to craft impactful messaging and donor touchpoints, including the annual impact report.
Administrative and Reporting
- Maintain the donor database, tracking all fundraising activities and donor communications.
- Oversee the preparation of donation tax letters, sponsorship agreements, and event acknowledgments.
- Generate reports on fundraising metrics, event outcomes, and donor engagement trends.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Fundraising, or Business Development.
- This position involves both in-office work and fieldwork, with travel to various event locations which may require adaptability in dynamic, on-site environments.

Manager of Youth Education

The Youth Prevention Education Manager at Overdose Lifeline leads statewide and national youth-focused
substance use and opioid prevention initiatives. This role manages evidence-based curricula like This is Not About
Drugs (TINAD) and PreVenture, coordinates school naloxone preparedness, and drives community partnerships to
reduce stigma and prevent addiction.

Key Responsibilities

• Curriculum & Training: Scale train-the-trainer models, equipping school personnel, nurses, local facilitators,
and community partners to deliver substance use disorder (SUD) education.
• School Preparedness: Lead safety initiatives like school naloxone access and emergency opioid response
protocols across districts.
• Partnership Building: Cultivate strategic relationships with state agencies, health foundations, school
boards, and community stakeholders.
• Impact Evaluation: Monitor program outcomes and data metrics in coordination with research teams to
ensure evidence-based effectiveness.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Education, Social Work, or a related field (Master’s
preferred).
• Experience: 5+ years in public health education, youth program management, or non-profit leadership.
• Knowledge: Deep understanding of the opioid crisis, adolescent behavioral health, and harm reduction
strategies.
• Skills: Exceptional public speaking, project management, and cross-sector collaboration abilities.
This role requires flexibility in scheduling, including occasional evening and weekend activities. The Manager of
Youth Education will also assist with other Overdose Lifeline programs as required, including the annual Golf
Outing, Overdose Awareness Day, etc. The Manager of Youth Education will also serve as a resource for community
agencies, participate in marketing, recruitment, and screening of potential participants, input timely and accurate
completion of required documentation. In addition, this position will assist with other duties as assigned by the
CEO.
Success in this role requires strong organizational, time management, and communication skills, along with the
ability to manage multiple priorities and work proactively in a fast-paced environment.
