Peer Grief Support
Overdose Lifeline’s Peer Grief Helpers program is designed to provide direct support to individuals experiencing the challenges associated with losing a loved one from an overdose or drug-related cause of death.
Peer Grief Helpers
With the support of the Marion County Public Health Department, we were able to team up with the Marion County Coroner’s Office to establish a network of Peer Grief Helpers. Created in response to the rising rates of overdose deaths in Marion County, Indiana, this program aims to expand support for individuals learning to navigate life after a loss.
Peer Grief Helpers are trained volunteers who understand and have experienced the unique challenges associated with an overdose or drug-related cause of death. Each Peer Grief Helper completes an 8-week training course where they learn to comfort, support, and provide resources to those grieving a loss of a loved one.
