Thanks to support from the Marion County Public Health Department, we’ve teamed up with the Marion County Coroner’s Office to establish a network of Peer Grief Helpers. This program was created in response to the rising rates of overdose deaths in Marion County, Indiana, aiming to expand support for individuals learning to navigate life after a loss.

Our Peer Grief Helpers are compassionate, trained volunteers who understand and have experienced the unique challenges associated with an overdose or drug-related cause of death of a loved one. Each Peer Grief Helper must complete an eight-week training course where they discuss their own loss and learn how to offer comfort, support, and resources to fellow grievers. Peer Grief Helpers will directly contact individuals looking for support and assist them by listening to the individual’s experience and sharing their own experiences.
